Kano govt. dissolves students’ association exco, inaugurates planning committee

The Kano State Commissioner for Higher Education, Yusuf Kofarmata, has dissolved the executive committee and senate of the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS).
Mr Kofarmata, who is the patron of the association, constituted a planning committee to pilot the affairs of NAKSS for the time being.
This is contained in a statement by the chief information officer of the state Ministry of Higher Education, Sunusi Kofarnaisa, on Saturday in Kano.
Members of the committee include Sani Saidu as the chairman, Yahaya Shuaiba, Yusuf Idris Garba, Bashir Isyaku, Jamilu Muhammad Wailari, and Tijjani Nasir.
Others are Yusuf Ahmad Sarki, Usman Shuaibu Maidala, Umar Senior, Muhiyyidin Sulaiman, and Abubakar Sa’ad as secretary.
The statement disclosed that the dissolution was sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the national body of NAKSS in July 2021, based on the provisions of its constitution.
The statement added that the NAKSS constitution stated clearly that “the tenure of the office of National Executive Council shall be deemed dissolved after one conventional year.
”Consequently, in view of this development, the current Executive Committee and the Senate are hereby directed to hand over all the affairs of the union to the new appointees.”
