Kano Assembly approves N55 billion 2022 supplementary budget

Kano State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, approved the 2022 supplementary bill of N55 billion for the state.
The approval was sequel to the third reading of the bill shortly after adopting the report presented by the chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Abba Ibrahim (APC-Garko), at the plenary presided over by the speaker, Hamisu Chidari.
Mr Ibrahim said the approval, which had brought the 2022 appropriation bill to over N276 billion, was based on the request of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to meet the developmental needs of the state.
The lawmaker noted that the supplementary budget was increased from N43 billion to N55 billion to cater for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and other projects.
According to him, with the approval of the supplementary budget, the capital expenditure is now N160 billion, while the recurrent expenditure is N115 billion.
The assembly adjourned the plenary until December 19 to allow for budget defence.
