Kaduna: Gov Sani inaugurates new FRSC zonal office, commits to road safety

Governor Uba Sani has inaugurated the newly built Federal Road Safety Corps zonal office in Kaduna, reaffirming his commitment to public safety, institutional efficiency, and improved traffic management.
Mr Sani, who performed the inauguration on Thursday in Kaduna, said the gesture reflected the state government’s belief that road safety was a shared responsibility.
The governor said that Kaduna, as a major transit hub, depended heavily on the effectiveness of the FRSC to ensure orderly mobility and protect lives on the roads.
According to him, providing a conducive working environment for the corps will enhance coordination, operational efficiency, and service delivery across the zones under the office’s jurisdiction.
The governor said the inauguration aligned with his administration’s broader agenda of infrastructure renewal, human capital development, and public safety, adding that safer roads were critical to commerce, access to services, and social cohesion.
He said the Kaduna government had embarked on comprehensive transport sector reforms to ensure modern, regulated, affordable, and secure mobility for residents.
Mr Sani disclosed that the Kaduna government had deployed 100 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for free mass transit, which conveyed over 1.4 million passengers between July and December 2025, saving commuters nearly N1.5 billion in transport costs.
He added that more than 200 modern bus stops had been completed across the state, while the Kakuri Modern Bus Terminal had reached advanced completion, and the redevelopment of Sobawa Motor Park was ongoing.
The governor further revealed that preparations were underway to commence the Kaduna Light Rail Project in March 2026, alongside a Bus Rapid Transit corridor to move large numbers of people safely and efficiently.
Mr Sani said the FRSC zonal office would serve as a critical hub for enforcement, emergency response, public education, and intelligence-driven road safety operations.
