Kaduna farmer defiled two children, court hears

A magistrates’ court in Kafanchan, Kaduna, has ordered that a 25-year-old farmer, Istifanus Musa, be remanded in a correctional facility for defiling two minors.
Mr Musa is charged by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) with defilement against the two girls aged nine and 10.
The two girls’ cases against the farmer were filed and read out separately.
However, the presiding judge, Michael Bawa, declined to take the plea for want in the jurisdiction to hear the matter.
Mr Bawa directed the prosecutor to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter until December 12 for further mention.
NSCDC prosecutor Marcus Audu told the court that the matter was reported by the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre Kafanchan on November 18.
Mr Audu added that the suspect lured the 10-year-old girl to his room and raped her. He raped the nine-year-old in a bush at a different time.
