The Jos University Teaching Hospital has recognised the dedicated and committed staff for their contributions to quality healthcare delivery.

Pokop Buptwada, JUTH’s CMD, said on Friday at the 2025 end-of-year get-together dinner and award night that outstanding performances need to be celebrated to encourage others.

Mr Bupwatda emphasised the importance of acknowledging and celebrating staff’s unwavering dedication, especially in the face of the daily challenges posed by a resource-limited work environment.

The CMD said that no workplace was void of challenges and that, despite the constraints, JUTH staff had continued to demonstrate exceptional commitment, professionalism, and compassion in caring for patients and in the discharge of their duties.

“It is salient that we recognise the hard work of our staff. We operate in a resource-limited setting, yet you consistently give your best; your commitment to your patients is evident every day,” he said.

He commended the staff for maintaining high standards of service delivery, which contributed to patient recovery and upheld the institution’s reputation as a centre of excellence.

Mr Bupwatda reaffirmed the management’s dedication to improving staff welfare, strengthening systems, and ensuring a more enabling environment for healthcare delivery in the coming year.

He said the merit award was strictly performance-based, while the long service award was for staff who had served for 32 years or more.

According to him, a merit committee, chaired by Aboy Madaki, was constituted to do the selections.

The CMD commended the JUTH workforce and urged them not to rest on their laurels in executing their duties effectively and efficiently.

Eighteen members of staff received awards for outstanding performance in the merit category, while 23 received awards in the long service category.

Rhoda Bot, one of the awardees in the merit category, commended JUTH for recognising and appreciating her contributions, noting that the recognition served as a great motivation to continue giving her best in the discharge of her duties.
