JUST IN: Man United legend Van der Sar in intensive care after brain bleeding

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar is currently in intensive care but in “stable condition” after a brain haemorrhage in the earlier hours of Friday.
“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar had a bleeding around his brain,” the legendary goalkeeper’s club, Ajax, said in a statement. “He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition.”
Ajax said everyone at the club wished their former player and chief executive well and promised to provide more updates once there is concrete information.
“Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery. We’re thinking of you.”
Subsequently, Manchester United reacted to the news on social media, saying,
“Sending all our love and strength to you, Edwin.”
The 52-year-old, until recently, served as the chief executive of Ajax, where he began his professional career in 1990. He played for other big European clubs, including Juventus, Fulham and Manchester United – winning four Premier League titles.
During his six years stint at Old Trafford, he also won the Champions League, two league cups, three FA Community Shield titles, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Van der Sar retired in 2011 before retiring to play for VV Noordwijk.
