JUST IN: Kwankwaso’s NNPP demands immediate cancellation of presidential election

Former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has demanded immediate cancellation of the presidential election held on Saturday, saying it was marred by irregularities.
Speaking on behalf of Mr Kwankwaso, the candidate of the New Nigeria’s People Party, NNPP, at a press briefing in Abuja Saturday evening, party spokesman Rufa’i Alkali, said a date a fresh election should be announced forthwith.
He said the election was characterised by voter suppression, intimidation, and vote buying.
It comes as other opposition parties, led by the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, are demanding urgent cancellation of the exercise on the basis of non-compliance with the Nigerian electoral guidelines.
