AS Roma sack Jose Mourinho amid poor outings

AS Roma have announced the departure of manager Jose Mourinho due to a recent string of poor performances, leaving the team in ninth place in Serie A.
Mr Mourinho, who took charge in 2021 after leaving Tottenham, initially brought success by securing the Conference League trophy in his first season.
“AS Roma can confirm that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff will leave the club with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.
Despite reaching the Europa League final in the second season, strained relations with the board intensified amid ongoing struggles.
The club’s statement confirms Mourinho’s immediate exit, with updates on the new coaching staff expected soon.
