Akeredolu’s corpse arrives Nigeria

The body of the late Ondo State former Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has arrived in Nigeria, Peoples Gazette just learnt.
Mr Akeredolu’s remains were brought into the country on Friday evening after he died of protracted prostate cancer in Germany.
In footage obtained by The Gazette, the corpse of Mr Akeredolu was received by his wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, his children and immediate younger brother, Wole Akeredolu amid tears at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos.
Also present to receive the remains of Mr Akeredolu are the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his chief of staff, Tayo Ayinde, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by the secretary to the state government, Tokunbi Talabi.
Among the members of the Ondo State Executive Council who received the corpse of the former governor include the secretary to the state government (SSG), Oladunni Odu.
Others include the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Ade Adetimehin and a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Gboyega Adefarati.
Recall that Mr Akeredolu passed away in Germany on December 27, 2023.
His remains had been deposited at the morgue.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa promised Mr Akeredolu, his former boss, would be giving a befitting burial rites following his developmental projects in the state.
