Jos resident bags prison sentence for stealing cow meat

On Tuesday, an Area Court in Jos sentenced Abdulraham Dahiru to three months’ imprisonment for stealing cow meat valued at N70,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, however, gave the convict an option of a fine of N20,000.
Police prosecutor Ijuptil Daniel told the court that the case was reported at the A Division Police Station on March 18 by Mercy Ademu.
The officer said that the complainant reported that the convict trespassed into her shop at West of Mines and stole cow meat valued at N 70,000.
The prosecutor said during the police investigation that the accused person confessed to having committed the offence.
He said the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
