John Cena announces retirement from WWE

John Cena, an iconic U.S. actor and wrestler, has announced his retirement from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) competitions, marking the end of an illustrious career spanning over two decades.
“Tonight, I officially announce my retirement from the WWE,” Cena said during a special appearance at the WWE Money in the Bank event in Canada on Saturday.
Cena’s retirement announcement elicited surprise among his fans and audience, who responded with appreciation, chanting, “Thank you, Cena.”
The 47-year-old, who transitioned into acting 18 years ago, said his final in-ring performance is scheduled for 2025. It would be part of his farewell tour.
Throughout his tenure since joining WWE in 2001, Cena has garnered acclaim as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, achieving world champion status an impressive 16 times.
Cena also affirmed his intention to remain connected with WWE in some capacity as a sign of his enduring bond with the wrestling community.
A record-breaking figure both in and out of the ring, he holds the Guinness World Record for granting the most Make-a-Wish wishes to seriously ill children.
Celebrating his 650th wish on July 19, 2022, he marked the occasion wearing his championship belts. Since fulfilling his first wish in 2002, he remains the most requested celebrity for such gestures, according to Guinness World Records.
