Jigawa targets revitalisation of 100 health facilities in 2025

The Jigawa state government has set a goal to revitalise no fewer than 100 health facilities in the state.
Shehu Sambo, executive secretary of the Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, made this known during an interview with journalists in Dutse on Sunday.
Mr Sambo said that 60 health facilities had already been revitalised in 2024 due to the primary healthcare challenge prizes won by the state government.
Mr Sambo highlighted that the revitalisation efforts went beyond basic repairs, incorporating improvements such as midwives’ quarters, perimeter fencing for security, solar-powered boreholes, and extensive solar electrification systems to support the entire facility.
He cited the Sakwaya PHC in Dutse Local Government Area as an example of the comprehensive revitalisation efforts.
Looking ahead, he noted that more than 100 health facilities were targeted for revitalisation in 2025, with 60 already earmarked, including two facilities per constituency.
He expressed optimism that these efforts would enhance the state’s primary healthcare landscape and help achieve universal healthcare coverage in the near future.
Mr Sambo also emphasised that these initiatives aimed to improve healthcare quality, increase accessibility, and contribute to the economic growth of the state.
