The Jigawa Police Command has restated its commitment to improving officers’ capabilities through innovative training programmes.

Garba Takur, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Department of Operations in the command, made the pledge at the ongoing two-week capacity-building training for Divisional Crime Officers (DCOs) in Dutse.

The command’s Department of Operations organised the programme.

Mr Takur commended the officers for their dedication, enthusiasm, and active participation in the training.

He emphasised the significance of continuous learning and professional development in improving the effectiveness of the state’s crime investigation and policing strategies.

Mr Takur reassured of the command’s commitment to improving officers’ capabilities through innovative training programmes.

Also, the command’s public relations officer (PRO), SP Lawan Shiisu, said that more specialised sessions would be held to provide the participants with the needed tools to deal with evolving security challenges.

“The first session was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, ACP Kundi Dauda, who provided a detailed lecture on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), interviews, and interrogation techniques.

“Kundi emphasised the importance of diligence investigation and intelligence gathering in resolving disputes amicably through ADR, which reduces unnecessary litigation and improves community relations.

“The second session was led by the Divisional Police Officer of Birnin Kudu division, CSP Yusuf Abdulkadir, who meticulously discussed the compilation of case diaries.

“His presentation covered important topics such as proper case file organisation, classification, use of red ink in case files, statement-taking rules, and the process of vetting case files for accuracy and completeness,” Mr Shiisu said.

The PRO added that the sessions were extremely interactive, with participants sharing their field experiences and asking insightful questions to gain a better understanding of the topics.
