Jigawa govt. partners Dutch experts to tackle flooding

The Jigawa government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with flood experts from the Netherlands, to mitigate flood disasters in the state.
This is contained in a statement by Mr Danladi Abubakar, the state commissioner for special duties, on Wednesday in Dutse.
He said the agreement was signed between the Jigawa government, KWT and Aveco De Bondt (Dutch flood experts) at the Nigerian Embassy in Hague on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
The event was witnessed by Dr Eniola Olaitan-Ajayi, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Netherlands, chairman of the Nigeria-Dutch business association and other stakeholders.
The statement quoted Gov. Badaru Abubakar as saying the partnership would bring lasting solution to the flood disaster.
“Flooding in Jigawa has remained a major setback for the economy and caused a lot of hardship to the people.
“We are committed to finding a lasting solution to this problem and we are confident that the expertise of KWT and AVECO DE BONDT, will be instrumental in achieving this goal.” the governor said.
The statement further quoted the Dutch partners as assuring effective collaboration with local technical teams to control flooding in the state.
