IWD: Fame Foundation hosts annual football tournament

Fame Foundation hosted its annual football tournament to mark the international women’s day celebration on Wednesday in Abuja.
The event themed ‘Generation Equality International Football Tournament 2023’ was held at the Area 3 football pitch.
It was attended by the Canadian ambassador to Nigeria, Jamie Christoff, and the special guest of honour, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.
Eight teams are to participate in the tournament. They include Team Canada, Team USA, Team Bet9ja, Team NAWOJ, Team East Africa, Team ANFS, Team Ashwan, and Team Fame/AMAC.
Mr Dare officially kicked off the tournament, after a brief photo session and handshake with all competing teams.
Addressing journalists at the event, Mr Dare stated that there are no more glass ceilings for women in Nigerian sports.
He noted the participation of women in Nigerian sports and how they have represented the country well in international competitions, winning laurels for the country.
Mr Dare thanked Fame Foundation for organising the event and invited more NGOs to emulate what they are doing for the continued benefit of the country.
Fame Foundation was established to solicit, encourage and advance the social, emotional, and economic well-being of women and girls.
