IPOB: Lawyers in court for Nnamdi Kanu’s emergency trial

The emergency trial of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is set to begin at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor is leading Mr Kanu’s legal team, and Shuaibu Labaran appears for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).
The IPOB leader, facing a terrorism charge, was not at the court at 9:54 a.m.
However, members of the media are also on the ground for the coverage.
Last month, the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court adjourned the trial of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu until January 19, 2022. Mr Kanu, who has been agitating for the South-East secession, was arrested in June in Nairobi, Kenya.
The separatist leader faces a seven-count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, and insulting President Muhammadu Buhari.
The separatist leader through Radio Biafra had been pushing a narrative that an impostor allegedly called “Jibrin of Sudan” occupied the presidential seat in the stead of Buhari.
