Investigative panel indicts transport commissioner over bail of alleged drug baron

Governor Abba Yusuf has received the report of an investigative committee probing the alleged involvement of transport commissioner Ibrahim Namadi in the bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Danwawu. Full Knowledge of Charges: The commissioner had constructive and actual knowledge of the drug-related charges. Violation of Government Policy: He was aware of the government’s firm stance against drug trafficking and abuse.
“No Prior Relationship: There was no evidence of prior acquaintance between the Commissioner and the defendant. No Bail Deposit by the commissioner: The commissioner didn’t deposit any sum for the bail; the claim was based on the defendant’s affidavit,” stated the panel’s report.
Mr Yusuf commended the committee’s professionalism, objectivity, and commitment to truth. He assured that the recommendations would be carefully reviewed and that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with due process and the public interest.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, justice, and discipline in public service, and its fight against drug-related crimes and social misconduct affecting Kano’s youths and society.
