Internal squabbles stall APC House of Assembly primaries in Lagos

The primaries for the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly seats in Lagos could not hold as scheduled on Thursday.
The failure is not unconnected with the inability of top stakeholders in the party to agree to a unity list for the exercise, Peoples Gazette learnt.
The APC National Working Committee (NWC) had in the revised timetable released on Tuesday fixed the governorship and house of assembly primaries for Thursday, May 26.
Only the governorship primary where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emerged, however, held on Thursday. Even so, two other gubernatorial aspirants were shut out of the process.
Party sources told The Gazette that while party hierarchy under the headship of Bola Tinubu and Mr Sanwo-Olu had drawn up a list of approved assembly aspirants to be elected, some local government chairmen are insisting that they must have a say in deciding representatives of their constituencies.
The new date for the primaries is yet to the announced.
The party’s primary election for the House of Representatives would hold on May 27, while that of Senate would hold on May 28.
