Institute calls for investigation into attack on Gov. Buni’s convoy

The Institute for Governance and Leadership Studies in Africa (IGLSA) has called for a thorough investigation into the attack on the convoy of Gov. Mai Buni of Yobe by suspected terrorists.
The attack occurred on Saturday along Maiduguri-Damaturu road.
The Director General of IGLSA, Lanre Adebayo, made the call in a statement issued by the institute’s media director, Wale Abydeen, on Monday in Abuja.
Mr Adebayo condemned the attack, saying it reechoed the need for more intelligence gathering on the part of Nigerian security forces.
According to him, the attack is also a signal that criminals still look down on the capabilities of the security agencies.
“It is on this note that we urge security management in the country to embark on modern intelligence gathering with the use of technology as this is the norm in any civilised clime.
“IGLSA is more saddened by the fact that the attack on the governor’s convoy was carried on the same day Governor Buni was being inducted as a doctoral fellow of the foremost leadership institute.
“Represented by his deputy, Idi Gubana, Gov. Buni was on Saturday conferred with the highest honour of the institute as a doctoral fellow of IGLSA at the African University of Science and Technology in Abuja,” he said.
