INEC urges Sokoto voters to maintain confidence in electoral process

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged voters in Sokoto State to uphold peace, respect the rule of law and support democratic development.
INEC’s Public Affairs Officer in Sokoto State, Hassan Sarki-Gendane, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Mr Sarki-Gendane urged eligible citizens to participate actively in the electoral process and maintain confidence in the electoral institution.
He reminded registered voters that collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) would begin on October 9 at designated collection centres.
He advised voters to collect their PVCs and obtain electoral information only through official INEC channels to avoid misinformation.
According to him, the Commission remains committed to conducting elections in accordance with the law and ensuring that every vote is properly accounted for.
Mr Sarki-Gendane urged eligible voters to participate peacefully and responsibly in the electoral process, noting that citizens have the right to freely choose their preferred candidates.
He congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and called on citizens to continue supporting the country’s democratic development.
