Indian government to include Nigerians in e-visa programme

Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar has convinced the Indian government to include Nigerians in their e-visa programme, cutting back on red tape that would henceforth make the visa application process seamless for Nigerians.
Mr Tuggar, who accompanied President Bola Tinubu to India for the G20 summit, made the disclosure on his X account Friday evening.
The foreign affairs minister said discussions with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, yielded a favourable outcome as Nigerians would now be extended the courtesy of applying for an Indian visa online.
“I discussed with the Indian External Affairs Minister, the need for an easier visa process for Nigerians visiting India, and he explained they currently don’t issue visas on arrival but will extend their online e-Visa application to Nigerians,” the foreign affairs minister posted on his X account Friday.
The G-20 summit is being held between September 9 and 10 at the Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre, Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, India.
Nigerian leader, Mr Tinubu, was asked to participate at the summit as an invitee by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
U.S. president Joe Biden, French president Emmanuel Macron, Canadian president Justin Trudeau, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and United Arab Emirates president Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan have all arrived in India for the summit.
