ICPC, group mobilise 50,000 Nigerian students to fight corruption

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has partnered with Master Agent Show to mobilise over 50,000 Junior Secondary School students against corruption.
ICPC chairman Musa Aliyu said this at the inauguration of the Basic Education Anti-Corruption Debate on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr Aliyu said that the collaboration aimed to enhance the fight against corruption at the basic education level nationwide.
He said that the organisation initiated a programme to reach 5,000 schools with 50,000 students, engaging them in the anti-corruption fight through debates.
According to him, the partnership aims to develop these ideas further, with the intention of building anti-corruption champions, expanding its reach, and escalating the fight against corruption to the next level.
Osigbeme Enike, the managing director of Master Agent Show, stated that the initiative aimed to enhance civic engagement and develop critical thinking and public speaking skills in combating corruption through debates.
According to him, BEAD is more than just a debate series. It is a transformative movement that harnesses the power of education to dismantle the deep-rooted barriers of corruption.
Mr Enike said that the programme, scheduled to run from September to July 2026, would be executed in four phases (school, engagement, regional selection, nationwide broadcast, and awards).
He said that the plan was also to reach an estimated 10 million radio listeners and over one million digital viewers per episode.
