Ibadan man in court over theft of cable worth N270,000

A 24-year-old man, Oladimeji Abdulahi, appeared before the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan on Friday for alleged housebreaking and theft of electric wire worth N270,000.
Mr Abdulahi, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of housebreaking, stealing and malicious damage, preferred against him by the police.
The prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 20, at about 10:10 a.m., at Odo-Ona Kekere, Ibadan.
Mr Adegbite said the defendant broke into the House of one Abiodun Adesola, damaged the ceiling and stole electrical wires worth N270,000.
He said the offences contravened sections 390(9), 413 and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The magistrate, Oluwabusayo Osho, granted him N200,000 bail with two reliable sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until January 13, 2025, for a hearing.
