I won’t be in rush to restructure Nigeria: Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that he won’t be in a rush to restructure the country, saying there’s a need to lay a proper foundation in the country in the face of economic hardship.
Mr Tinubu, who revealed this during his condolence to the family of the former Ondo governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, the country will soon overcome its current economic woes.
“I’m aware of the need to restructure Nigeria but that proper foundation must be laid before bringing the restructuring in place such that if it is done in a rush without proper foundation, the restructuring may collapse very soon but it would be done,” he said on Wednesday during his visit.
Mr Tinubu’s visit came three months after the demise of Mr Akeredolu, who died of a protracted prostrate cancer in a German hospital.
The former Ondo governor was, until his death, the chairman of the South-West Governors Forum.
However, Mr Tinubu had also been a proponent of restructuring the country even before emerging the president.
He repeatedly stated that there are immense benefits in restructuring the country to create correct balance and fairness in resource control.
Speaking further, Mr Tinubu said he was aware of the hardship Nigerians are passing through due to the various policy decisions of his administration.
“I appreciate the pains Nigerians are going through, but very soon Nigeria will overcome it; that is a matter of time before the kind of policies the government is implementing will bring positive solutions to the challenges,” he added.
Mr Tinubu also used the private visit to Mr Akeredolu’s family to visit Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti, in Akure.
