I wanted to hug Burna Boy when he assaulted me on stage, fan says

An excited fan kicked off stage by Nigerian musician, Damini ‘Burna Boy’ Ogulu, at 2024 the Greater Lagos Concert said he jumped on the stage to embrace the musician and not to harm him as some insinuated.
In a viral video on social media, the young man, who did not mention his name, said “As a fan, I just wanted to embrace him. I didn’t know it would turn out that way.”
He added, “For people saying I wanted to harm him, no I mean no harm. I’m also a musician. I just want to use the opportunity to request if he can accept I perform with him on stage that day. I have been going to Burna Boy’s show for a long time. I’m one of his big fans.”
A viral video of a fan who jumped on stage and was kicked by Burna Boy during the Lagos concert has sparked criticisms for the musician with many condemning his action.
Amid criticisms over his attack, Burna Boy justified his actions, saying he was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Burna Boy said, “Everybody knows my rule about getting on stage and startling me when I’m performing. I had an amazing time with Lagos State last night. Don’t jump on my stage like that! I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy new year.’’
For those who criticised the Grammy Award winner for ending his performance abruptly due to the incident, the singer said, “It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 mins and did almost an hour.”
