I heard voices in my head after taking ‘ice’; spent months in Yaba Psychiatric Hospital: Solid Star

Nigerian artiste Joshua Iniyezo, aka Solid Star, has revealed dark moments he experienced after abusing drugs, saying he heard voices in his head and did strange things.
The ‘Wait’ crooner said he was with his friends and “dey come say make we meet for hotel, these guys say make we smoke, they lock hotel na there I start to dey smoke,” on Honest Bunch podcast.
“From that day, I started smoking even before I record and go to the studio. It now gave my vocals more grip,” said Solid Star.
Solid Star said he was introduced to ‘ice’ in Festac.
Ice (crystal meth) is an illegal methamphetamine, a member of the amphetamine family of drugs, addictive and linked to chronic physical and mental health problems.
“I like the substance is that it makes you work. I fit record three songs now now,” said the artiste.
Solid Star said he fell into depression when he moved to Awoyaya in 2021 after he left his record label ‘Achievas Records’ because he was struggling financially and he even had to sell his car.
One day, he woke up and “decided to see outside and trekked from Awoyaya to Oriental hotel.”
With his addiction, Solid Star began hearing voices and “e go dey like say people wey dey other rooms dey talk about me. I hated people.”
He admitted hearing a voice tell him, “I’m a king; make I no dey pay for stuff,” and Solid Star stopped paying hotel bills.
“They called like three policemen for me and they carried me to the station,” the artiste revealed.
After Solid Star’s arrest, he was admitted to Yaba Psychiatric Hospital for rehabilitation.
The 35-year-old embattled singer advised people to stop smoking and abusing drugs.
