Husband arrested for killing wife just days after wedding

A man in the Czech Republic has been accused of killing his wife just days after their wedding.
A police spokeswoman confirmed on Tuesday that the 46-year-old is being held on suspicion of murder.
According to local media reports, the couple had only been married for a few days.
The alleged crime occurred near the town of Ostrov, close to the German border.
Police say they found the woman unconscious in the couple’s apartment at around 2:00 a.m. on Monday, following an anonymous phone call.
A forensic doctor determined that the 42-year-old woman had died as a result of violence. Media reports suggested she might have been strangled.
An autopsy is now set to be carried out.
Police said the husband was arrested at a petrol station after a brief manhunt. A request for pre-trial detention has since been filed.
If convicted, the man faces a prison sentence of between 10 and 18 years.
