Hungary receives guarantees from Brussels to extend Russia sanctions

Hungary has received the required guarantees on energy security from the European Commission, without which it refused to extend sanctions against Russia, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Monday.
“Hungary has received the required guarantees for our country’s energy security.
“The European Commission has committed to protecting gas and oil pipelines leading to EU member states,’’ Mr Szijjarto wrote on social media.
The minister said the commission had also demanded that Kyiv guarantee the preservation of oil transit from Russia to Europe.
