The Lagos state commissioner for tourism, arts and culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, says the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025, slated to be held December 31, will feature A-list artistes like Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Seyi Vibez and Olamide.

Ms Benson-Awoyinka, in a statement on Monday, said the event was meant to usher in the New Year.

According to her, the event, which will begin at 7:00 p.m., is a 24-hour celebration, offering attendees a memorable blend of music, culture, and entertainment to mark the transition into 2025.

Ms Benson-Awoyinka described the Greater Lagos Countdown as a unique platform to unify residents while celebrating the cultural diversity and vibrancy of the state.

“This year’s event will feature an electrifying lineup of Afrobeat superstars, including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Seyi Vibez, iconic rapper Olamide, and other renowned artistes.

“Performances will simultaneously be held across the five IBILE divisions of Lagos at Ikorodu Town Hall, Badagry Grammar School, Agege Stadium, Epe Recreation Centre, and Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).

“Interested participants are encouraged to register via https://bit.ly/GreaterLagosCountdown25, while tickets can be obtained at https://lagoscountdown.live for access to the various venues.

“This end-of-year celebration is more than an event; it is a tribute to the dynamic spirit of Lagos and its people.

“With music, dance, food, and a breathtaking fireworks display, we are dedicated to creating an unforgettable experience for everyone,” she said.

Ms Benson-Awoyinka assured residents that robust security measures had been put in place across all venues to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees.

She encouraged Lagos residents and tourists to join the festivities and embrace the energetic Lagos spirit as the city sets the tone for a remarkable 2025.

According to her, the celebration will reach its climax with a stunning fireworks display at midnight, symbolising the transition into the New Year.

“Attendees can also look forward to cultural displays, food fairs, and other activities showcasing the essence of Lagos.

“The Greater Lagos Countdown stands as a testament to Lagos state’s tradition of ending the year on a high note and welcoming the New Year with grandeur and style,” she said.
