South African Grammy Award-winning singer Tyla is set to make history as the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The 38th annual ceremony will air live on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The event will be broadcast across Nickelodeon and its affiliated networks, including TeenNick, Nicktoons, and MTV2.

The ‘Bliss’ crooner received two nominations: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for ‘Show Me Love’ with WizTheMc and bees & honey.

Reacting to the news on X Thursday evening, Tyla wrote, “I’m really about to host the Kids’ Choice Awards.”

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCAs) is a vibrant, interactive celebration where children worldwide vote for their favourite stars in television, film, music, sports, and digital media.

The award show is famous for its orange blimp trophies and fun slime showers. The KCAs give young fans a chance to vote and celebrate their favourite stars.

Fans can start voting on May 15 on the official Kids’ Choice Awards website. They can vote in different categories like Favourite Movie, Favourite Music Group, and Favourite Gamer.

This year’s nominees include both well-known stars and rising talents, showing the wide interests of young fans. Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga lead with four nominations each. Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black follow closely with three nominations each.

Over the years, several Nigerian and African creatives have been recognised at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Emmanuella won Favourite African Social Media Star in 2021 while stars like Wizkid, Davido, Eddy Kenzo, and Caster Semenya have also received nominations and honours.
