Governor Bago salutes ex-military dictator IBB at 84

Governor Mohammed Umaru-Bago has saluted former military dictator Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as he turns 84 on Sunday.
In a birthday message, the governor, through his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the celebrant as a true patriot and a living legend who has dedicated most of his life to serving the country.
He said Mr Babangida has demonstrated bravery and patriotism in ensuring the unity, stability, and progress of Nigeria during and after his active service.
The governor observed that the launch of the IBB Presidential Library, named after his late wife, Maryam Babangida, was a clear indication of his commitment to preserving rich history and promoting education, which would benefit Niger, Nigeria, and beyond.
Mr Umaru-Bago maintained that the elder statesman has written his name in the sands of time through the numerous policies and programmes implemented when he was the Head of State and military president of Nigeria between 1985 and 1993.
The governor said the celebrant has become a beacon of hope and a role model to many generations, and posterity will continue to be kind to him.
He celebrated the enduring legacy of the celebrant in Nigeria’s political and economic evolution and congratulated him on attaining the age of 84, which he described as a great milestone in life.
