Gov Radda appoints ex-military administrator Daku as Katsina Hisbah Board chairman

Governor Dikko Radda has approved the appointment of the former military governor of Kano and Sokoto States, Brig.-Gen. Ahmad Daku (retd) as the executive chairman of the newly established Katsina State Hisbah Board.
The governor also appointed Ahmad Filin-Samji as the executive chairman of the new Zakat and Waqf Board, responsible for alms and endowment administration and allied matters.
In a statement on Wednesday, Ibrahim Kaula, the governor’s chief press secretary, announced the appointments.
Mr Daku was military governor of Kano from 1985 to 1987 and later Sokoto from 1987 to 1990, and in 2002, he headed the Directorate of Pilgrims Affairs.
According to the statement, Sheikh Aminu Abu-Amar would serve as the Hisbah commander, with Sheikh Kamal Alti, Iliya Imam and Sirajo Lawal-Katsayal as board members.
The governor appointed Abubakar Yusuf to run its daily activities as executive secretary for the Zakat and Waqf board, with Sheikh Naziru Maibaru and Da’ah Amin-Halilu as members.
The governor also appointed Usman Maska as executive chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, with Abubakar Abdulkadir, Abdulaziz Danyari, Mansur Murnai, Sani Aliyu-Jarkuka, Abdullahi Kutawa and Lawal Dalhatu as permanent commissioners.
“The appointment of the board members supersedes the earlier one announced last month,” said the statement.
In another appointment, the governor appointed Abdullahi Imam as the executive chairman of Katsina’s Fiscal Responsibility Commission, which has Shafi’u Inono, Yahaya Galadima and Umma Mamman Dambo as members.
All appointments into the two commissions are subject to confirmation by the Katsina House of Assembly.
Meanwhile, Mr Radda has appointed a former speaker of the Katsina parliament, Aliyu Sabi’u-Muduru, and four others, Jabiru Yusuf-Yauyau, Umaru Gambo, Nasiru Ala-Iyatawa and Ahmed Abubakar-Adidas as senior special assistants.
