Gov Namadi inaugurates technical, vocational training centre

Governor Umar Namadi has inaugurated a technical and vocational centre to empower youths in Jigawa state with practical skills.
At the inauguration ceremony on Monday in Garki, Mr Namadi described the centre as a milestone in Jigawa’s journey towards educational advancement and economic empowerment.
He said that his administration’s initiative to establish the technical and vocation centre was part of the effort to improve the educational standard in Jigawa.
”We are inaugurating one of the schools we have designated as centres of excellence. This is the school we have designated to provide vocational and technical education to our students,” he said.
He acknowledged the foundational efforts of the previous administration, noting that the school was initially constructed at the cost of almost N635 million, and his administration restructured the institution.
”When we came and decided to convert it to a centre of excellence, we undertook to renovate and build additional hostels at almost about N700 million,” he said.
He stressed that the school had already admitted its first set of more than 200 carefully selected male and female students across the state’s 27 LGAs.
According to Mr Namadi, the new centre would begin operations with three foundational courses in welding and fabrication, building technology, and catering services.
The Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Ahmed, witnessed the commissioning of the centre alongside other dignitaries.
