Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has vowed to introduce positive reforms that would transform the state’s civil service.

Mr Mutfwang stated this shortly after he sworn-in five new permanent secretaries on Monday in Jos.

The governor, who decried the deep-seated anomalies in the civil service, urged the permanent secretaries to put their wealth of experience to bare.

“You are coming when a lot is going wrong in the civil service; what we have seen over the years is not what we can be proud of.

“Therefore, we want to ensure that we reform the service and make it one of the most competitive that our own civil servants can be able to stand with their peers anywhere in this country.

“So, we are going to be very deliberate and intentional in ensuring that we raise the bar of governance in every ministry, department and agency.

“Therefore, I want you to know that you are coming to provide leadership for this process of transformation, and this leadership is going to require character, integrity and knowledge,” he said.

The governor called on the new appointees to add value to his administration through proper mentorship and commitment to duty.
