Gov Kabir-Yusuf reopens Kwankwaso’s informatics institute shut down by Ganduje

The Kano government has reopened the Informatics Institute, Kura, with 250 new intakes to continue academic activities.
Former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had shut down the institute.
Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf made the declaration during the formal presentation of letters of admission to the 250 new students on Thursday in Kura.
He said the school would begin academic activities without delay and reiterated his commitment to reopen all institutions of learning shut down by the previous administration in Kano.
The governor said the institute, established 12 years ago by erstwhile Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was designed to train youths in information technology and to give them opportunities to rise to the challenges of modern communication technology.
“This moment is significant because we are concerned about the issue of education and information technology in Kano state. Let me also inform you that many graduates of the institute have made significant strides in their careers and are employed in various parastatals, companies, and ministries not only in Kano state but across the globe.
“The institute is designed to meet the requirements and enhance the digital economy,” he said.
According to Mr Kabir-Yusuf, the reopening of the institute aligns with his administration’s broader vision for a digital economy in Kano.
“The institute has played a significant role in advancing information technology in the northern region, contributing to the professional development of the students and enhancing their impact on key sectors of the economy,” he said.
While congratulating the staff and students of the institute, Mr Kabir-Yusuf pledged more support to fast-track the school’s sustainable development.
