Gov. Idris directs payment of N2.2 billion entitlement to former councillors

Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi has directed the payment of N2.185 billion entitlement to former councillors who served from 2004-2024.
Ahmed Idris, chief press secretary to Kebbi governor, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Mr Idris quoted his principal as giving the directive while receiving the leadership of Kebbi Councillors’ Forum on a courtesy visit at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
The governor assured the former councillors of his readiness to support them to succeed.
He also ordered that part payment of the amount be paid immediately, instructing that the remaining balance should also be paid by the end of July.
The chairman of the forum, Bello Gulumbe, appreciated the governor for honouring what he said many successive administrations refused to honour.
He assured the governor that all the former councillors in the state had no option than to rally round him to actualise his dreams.
