Germany has world’s highest leadership approval rating; Russia lowest: Report

Germany has been ranked as the number one nation in global leadership ratings in a survey conducted by leading analysis website Gallup, while Russia has the lowest ranking.
In the poll results released by Gallup on Tuesday, Germany boasts of a 60 per cent leadership approval rating, a significant increase from 2023 approval ratings, which stood at 46 per cent.
The European nation had the third highest approval in Africa with 54 per cent, behind the highest in the continent, China, with 58 per cent, followed by the United States with 56 per cent, a slight decrease in the continent it had historically enjoyed success.
The United States leadership disapproval rating rose by one per cent to 36 per cent in 2024, with its highest disapproval rating coming from Russia, with a staggering 88 per cent disapproval in the country’s leadership.
The result from Russia is not surprising, considering the relationship between Washington and Moscow has gone sour since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in 2022.
The U.S. has provided billions of dollars in aid and weapons to Ukraine in the fight against Russia.
American leadership approval rating in Israel rose to 81 per cent as the country is a major backer of the Israeli war against Hamas in Gaza, which consequently resulted in the approval rating in Palestine falling by 11 per cent.
Kosovo gave the United States its highest approval rating in the world, 84 per cent. The United States’ overall approval rating is 39 per cent, with most successes coming from the Americas.
As expected, Russia’s approval rating is still very low despite moving up by one per cent to 22 per cent from last year, which is largely due to its military invasion in Ukraine for more than two years now.
Russia has a staggering 90 per cent leadership disapproval rating in Europe, which shows how unpopular the government in Moscow is among Europeans.
However, Russia enjoyed success in Africa, with the fourth-highest leadership approval rating at 42 per cent. Russia’s influence on the continent has been on the rise in recent months.
