German court declares Islamic centre, Blue Mosque, extremist organisation

The Federal Administrative Court of Germany has confirmed a finding that the actions taken by the Blue Mosque, an Islamic centre, in Hamburg, are those of an “extremist Islamic organisation.”
The Administrative Court of Hamburg affirmed the designation of the centre’s activities as “Islamic extremism” on Friday, the Voice of America reported on Sunday.
According to the report, the decision was in response to an objection and complaint by the Islamic centre against a decision by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of Germany.
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution classified the Blue Mosque’s operations as “extremist Islamist organisations” in 2018 and 2019.
The court rendered a written decision regarding the grievance brought up by the Islamic centre following two oral hearings held in April and May of this year.
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution was prohibited from publishing some of the report’s contents due to the court’s decision, which admits a partial acceptance of the plaintiffs’ complaint.
