Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour visits victims of electoral violence in hospitals, promises financial support

Days after the governorship election was marred by violence and voters intimidation, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos, visited victims of electoral violence in hospitals.
Sharing photos of his visits to victims in hospital, Mr Rhodes-Vivour, in a series of tweets, on Thursday said, “I’ve spent the last days reaching out, attending to and making sure those hurt by the violence unleashed by the ruling party got treatment.”
Mr Rhodes-Vivour said he also visited families of those killed during the election, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress of unleashing violence on voters.
The LP governorship candidate further said, “Please if you were assaulted during the 2023 elections please fill this incident form along with your proof be it pictures or videos. We are most importantly providing financial assistance to those injured.”
Mr Rhodes-Vivour’s gesture comes as the winner of the election, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the APC, are yet to make comments on victims affected by electoral violence on March 18.
Saturday’s governorship election in Lagos saw APC thugs roaming the streets, warning citizens who will vote against their party to stay indoors.
The United States and UK governments have both condemned the violence, voter suppression and ethnic tension that marred the March 18 elections nationwide, threatening sanctions against some political actors.
