Fuel tanker goes up in flames on Iganmu Bridge

A fire outbreak occurred in the Ijora-Apapa area of Lagos State on Thursday after a tanker went up in flames at the Lagos Quadrapont Bridge, better known as Iganmu Bridge.
The fire was said to have started at about 7:30 p.m.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed this on its X platform in a statement by its director, Margaret Adeseye.
It read, “Fire Alert! The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently engaging in firefighting operations at Costain towards Ijora 7up, where a tanker fire is being combated at the Lagos Quadrapont Bridge by the National Arts Theater, Iganmu. The Sari Iganmu and Ilupeju Fire Crews are combining efforts to tame the raging fire. An update will follow.”
In an update of the incident on its X platform, LSFRS added, “Firefighting operations ongoing at Costain towards Ijora 7up. More updates will follow.”
The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) also confirmed the outbreak in a tweet, saying, “A tanker has gone up in flames just before Iganmu bridge from Sifax. LASTMA has already alerted the @LagosRescue. Our officers at the scene are doing their best to handle the situation.”
The agencies, however, did not reveal causality figures.
