Fubara appoints former factional speaker Edison Ehie chief of staff

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has appointed the former factional speaker of the state assembly, Edison Ehie, as the new chief of staff.
Mr Fubara announced the appointment of Mr Ehie and five special advisers at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House on Monday.
Other appointees are Darlington Orji, Solomon Eke, Aminayanasam Fiberesima, Deeyah Bariene and Ohia Prince.
The appointees are the governor’s loyalists and supported him during the rift with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, over the control of the state’s political structure.
Mr Fubara charged Mr Ehie and the five special advisers to set aside partisanship and ensure peace for the state’s growth.
He added that the battles were won through God’s divine help and that his administration had surrendered the political situation to God.
The political crisis had resulted in the destruction of the State House of Assembly complex and division among lawmakers as Mr Wike’s supporters in the House moved for Mr Fubara’s impeachment.
When the impeachment was unsuccessful, nine pro-Wike commissioners resigned to show loyalty to the former governor and FCT minister.
However, the president intervened and came up with a resolution with conditions favouring the minister. Following this, Mr Fubara swore in the officials who had previously resigned and granted them their full privileges to avert the crisis in the state.
Meanwhile, the governor instructed the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, to reassign portfolios to the eight reappointed commissioners present at the swearing-in ceremony.
The former Commissioner for Special Projects, Emeka Woke, was the only one absent out of the nine pro-Wike commissioners.
The governor also informed the reappointed commissioners not to resume their offices to destroy his administration but rather to do things that would make their children proud of them.
