FRSC seeks synergy with army for safety on Akwa Ibom roads

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Akwa Ibom command, has sought collaboration with the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army to enhance safety in the state.
The Akwa Ibom sector commander of the FRSC, Edward Odiete, said this on Saturday when he played host to the commander of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen Alexander Tawasimi, who was on a courtesy visit to him in Uyo.
Mr Odiete said the synergy aims to foster a more secure environment, particularly on roads, through joint efforts and strategic planning.
He pledged to collaborate with the 2 Brigade Nigerian Army to enhance the safety of lives and property.
The sector commander emphasised the importance of information sharing between the Nigerian Army, the FRSC and other federal agencies operating in Akwa Ibom.
“The relationship we have maintained over time will have to continue in your time. You have been supporting us from time to time, especially in the area of our mobile courts.
“We know the constitutional role of the military is to defend the entire nation from any insurgent.
“I know with this interaction with you, this is what you have come to do in the state, and God will help you accomplish it,” Mr Odiete said.
Earlier, the commander of the 2 Brigade, Mr Tawasimi, said the visit was to establish synergy and cooperation that exists between the FRSC and the army.
Mr Tawasimi said that upon assumption of duty, he identified the FRSC as a critical partner in ensuring the safety of lives and property.
“The visit will also improve the cordial relationship that exists between us. We will continue to work together and share information to keep the state and country safe.
“The aim is the same: to ensure safety, harmony and peace. This is our ultimate aim of being in Akwa Ibom State,” Mr Tawasimi said.
He assured the sector commander of a secure and robust relationship with the FRSC throughout his stay in Akwa Ibom.
“I have no doubt that we will do well together,” he said.
