FRSC, police pledge collaboration to curb gridlock during yuletide

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police have pledged to collaborate to curb gridlock and maintain law and order at the Onitsha Bridgehead this yuletide.
The sector commander of FRSC Delta Command, Joyce Alexander, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, at the state police headquarters in Asaba on Wednesday.
She said that both agencies were determined to ensure free traffic flow, prevent road crashes, and safeguard commuters throughout the festive period.
“The key areas of focus are enhancing patrol coordination, joint strategies to ensure safer roads, and seamless traffic flow.
“Timely response, collaborative efforts to respond to road traffic crashes and emergencies, and joint campaigns to educate drivers and road users on safety measures,” she said.
Speaking, Mr Abaniwonda said the collaboration was crucial as the yuletide period typically witnesses a surge in vehicular movement across the bridges connecting Delta and Anambra States.
The commissioner of police assured the FRSC of the police’s unwavering support in traffic management, particularly through joint patrols and intelligence sharing.
Both agencies expressed optimism that the collaboration would ease the gridlock experienced during festive seasons and enhance the safety and security of road users.
