Frank Nweke promises to harness Nsukka’s mineral resources

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Enugu, Frank Nweke Jr, says he will harness natural mineral resources in Nsukka for the state’s economic advantages.
Mr Nweke stated this during his campaign tour to the Udenu local government area of Enugu State on Wednesday.
According to the APGA candidate, the Nsukka zone provides 60 per cent of the total votes in the state and hosts a number of comparative advantages that could accrue to the state.
He added that his administration, if elected, would give the zone much attention it deserved and ensure they got more, and the zone would become the fountain of education and technology for economic advantage.
“Nsukka has 60 per cent of votes in Enugu, the University of Nigeria Nsukka, natural minerals, rich farmlands and more,” Mr Nweke said.
“We will encourage the development of the enabling environment and support Nsukka’s emergence as a vibrant commercial hub, with UNN at the centre. Our plan is to link the university to other educational institutions in its sphere of influence and the local economy via businesses and industries,” he explained.
Mr Nweke also mentioned that “our research and development departments will be productively engaged to provide solutions for the local economy and attract national and global attention.”
He said his administration’s approach would be to create an enabling environment for industries and companies to come in, invest and create jobs for the teeming youths.
“It is regrettable that for the lifespan of the present administration that has spanned over seven years, no single industry came to set up in Enugu. This will change with immediate effect under my administration,” he promised.
