Four-year-old girl stolen in Benue: Police

The police command in Benue has rescued a four-year-old baby girl allegedly stolen in Naka.
The command has also arrested three suspected child traffickers concerning the alleged theft.
This is contained in a statement by police spokesman SP Sewuese Anene on Tuesday.
The statement said on August 26, the Naka Police Division received a report that the four-year-old was missing.
It said during an investigation, a man, last seen with strangers in the neighbourhood around children’s playground, was arrested.
According to the statement, the suspect mentioned encountering two women who were his accomplices during his journey from Onitsha in Anambra to Benue.
The police stated that the suspect informed the police that he had helped the women arrange accommodation but that they left the area without notifying him.
“Further investigations led the investigating team to Onitsha-Ugbo, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, where the said suspects were arrested,” said the statement. “These suspects led the police to Eke-Nkpor in Anambra state where the child was eventually recovered.”
The statement added, “Investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspects involved in the case.”
