Four killed in Ondo violent cult clash: Police

The Ondo State police on Monday said four people were killed in a violent clash between two rival cult groups in Owo Local Government Area.
Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the incident in a short message sent to reporters in Akure.
Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya revealed that normalcy has returned to the affected area with the intervention of the police, stressing that efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspects.
“Four people have been confirmed dead. Normalcy has returned through the intervention of the police; efforts are on to arrest perpetrators of the act,” she said.
Peoples Gazette had reported that a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Fisayo Oladipo, was among the victims of the cult-related clash.
It was gathered that Mr Oladipo was returning from a club around 2:00 a.m. when the cult gang shot him dead in the violent clash, which began on Sunday and continued to the early hours of Monday.
Mrs Odunlami-Omisanya, however, said she could not immediately confirm if the APC chieftain was among the victims of the cult clash.
