Four die in Sagamu-Ikorodu road crash

Four persons were confirmed dead on Sunday while four others sustained injuries in an accident at MRI, Mosimi, on the Sagamu-Ikorodu road in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, said in a statement that the accident occurred at about 12.40 p.m.
Ms Okpe explained that the accident involved a Toyota Sienna, marked LND 945 EL, and a white Convoy bus with registration number AKD 232 XV.
She attributed the crash to speeding and wrongful overtaking, leading to a rear collision of the two vehicles.
She noted that eight people, comprising six men, one woman and a female child, were involved in the accident.
Ms Okpe added that four people, made up of two men, one woman and a female child died in the crash, while four men were injured.
“The injured victims were taken to Dasochris Hospital, Gbaga, Ogijo, while the family took custody of the corpses,” she said.
Okpe said that the state sector commander, Anthony Uga, reacted to the incident by advising motorists to always desist from excessive speeding.
Mr Uga further urged motorists to always ensure road markings on overtaking were obeyed.
