 Four die, 21 injured in Cairo telecoms building fire

Airport sources said nearly 100 flights have been delayed since Monday evening.

Four people have been killed in a fire that broke out at a telecommunications building in central Cairo, medical sources said on Tuesday.

The fire broke out on Monday, disrupting mobile phone networks and internet across the Egyptian capital as well as banking services.

The Egyptian stock market halted operations on Tuesday.

Airport sources said nearly 100 flights have been delayed since Monday evening.

According to the Health Ministry, at least 21 people were injured.

Civil defence teams put out the fire hours after it erupted at a key telecommunications building in central Cairo. Investigations are underway into the reasons behind the fire.
