Four dead, 13 injured in Niger road crash

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) has confirmed the death of four people in a road accident on the Agaie-Lapai Road on Sunday.
Abdullah Baba-Arah, director-general of NSEMA, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday in Minna. He said the crash involved three trailer trucks.
One of the trucks was transporting cattle and goats.
Baba-Arah confirmed that of the four people who died in the crash, two died instantly and two others later in hospital.
Thirteen injured people were taken to Agaie General Hospital for treatment. Mr Baba-Arah also confirmed the death of over 35 cattle.
The cause of the accident was attributed to dangerous overtaking, leading to a head-on collision. NSEMA’s Agaie desk officer and volunteers carried out rescue operations.
The director-general urged motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to avoid similar accidents in the future.
