Forum begs FG to end senseless killings in Benue community

The Forum of Tyoshin Academics has appealed to the Federal Government to end the incessant killings in Tyoshinland in Benue State.
The forum made the appeal in a statement jointly signed by its National President, Prof. Patrick Ukase, and National Publicity Secretary, Prof. John Ajai, on Sunday in Makurdi.
The duo said that five people were hacked to death and several others injured in another attack by some assailants on Friday.
They said that those injured were fighting for their lives in different hospitals.
The statement indicated, “Today marks another day of mourning, another black day etched in the hearts of our community. The relentless armed attackers once more unleashed terror on our people, this time along the Naka-Makurdi Road. Friday’s tragedy is but a grim continuation of a war that has ravaged our land, leaving us shattered and broken. Just days ago, the blood of our brothers and sisters was spilt in Camp-Nagi, Mbachohon, where three more were brutally murdered. Yet, in the face of this terror, the silence from those sworn to protect us is deafening.’’
They expressed worry that their villages, homes, and their existence had been under siege for too long.
The duo said that nine council wards of the Gwer-West Local Government area had already fallen into the hands of the ruthless attackers.
They appealed to the federal and state governments to impress on security agencies to halt the wave of attacks.
